Why Tracking should be setup before launching ads
What better tracking can actually show you.
Tracking is not just there to tell you that someone filled out a form.
That is useful, but it is only one part of the picture.
What my clients and I really want to know is:
What happened before they converted?
Which pages did they look at?
Did they book a call?
Were they actually a fit?
Did they become a client?
Because the ad platform can tell me that a lead came through.
But that does not automatically tell me whether it was a good lead.
That became really clear in one Meta Ads account I managed for a brand strategy and design studio.
The account was already generating leads, and the business was already closing some ideal clients.
So this was not a situation where nothing was working.
The bigger issue was that too much of the budget was also supporting leads that were not financially aligned with the offer.
If I had only looked at the lead count inside Meta, I would have missed that.
The better signal came from looking at what happened after the form submission.
Which leads booked.
Which ones were actually a fit.
What people looked at before taking the next step.
And which opportunities became real clients.
During the focused review period, five out of five booked calls matched the studio’s ideal-client profile, and three of those prospects became clients.
Each ideal client was worth approximately around $10,000 USD.
The result was not that the business suddenly needed more leads.
It was that the tracking gave us a clearer read on which opportunities actually mattered.
And that made it much easier to understand what was working, what was creating noise, and where the budget was better spent.
Want to see what that looked like?
I put the full breakdown into a free Brand Studio case study.
Inside, I walk through:
what the account looked like before
why lead volume was not the best success signal
what the customer path revealed
how booked-call quality changed the way the account was evaluated
how the studio closed three ideal clients during the review period
